Welcome to the Westland Housing Commission's online waiting list application.
This web-based process will assist you in applying for a place on the WHC's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list. You may apply at any time during the online registration open enrollment period. The waiting list will open at 12:01 am EDT on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 and will close at 11:59 pm EDT on Monday, June 5th, 2023. Upon the closing of the enrollment period, the WHC will conduct a random lottery of all applications and place 1000 applicants on the WHC HCV waiting list. Applicants can return to this page to check whether they were placed on the waiting list by clicking the "Search Existing Record" button to the right. Do not call our office to check whether you were placed on the waiting list.
To successfully apply, you will need to provide the WHC with the following information for all members of your household:
* First and last names of all members of your household
* A valid mailing address
* A valid phone number
* A valid alternate phone number
* Social Security number for all members of your household
* Email address
* Birthdate for all members of your household
* Gender for all household members
* Disability status for all household members
* Race and ethnicity for all household members
* Annual household income for all household members
*** This includes wages, business income, unemployment benefits, cash assistance from DHS, child support, pension, social security benefits, supplemental security income (SSI), and other support payments for every household member for one year.
The WHC will offer a Westland residency preference, defined as: living in Westland, Westland employment or verifiable Westland employment opportunity.
The WHC will offer a preference for all families with a head of household, cohead, or spouse that is an elderly or disabled person.
In order to meet the WHC's eligibility criteria, please note the following:
Provide accurate information. Submission of false information or misrepresentation will result in disqualification from the lottery and may result in loss of eligibility to participate in the HCV program.
Only one application per household. Submission of multiple applications will result in disqualification from the lottery.
Household income must not exceed the Very Low Income Limit.

No paper applications will be available or accepted. The WHC or City of Westland offices will not have paper applications available.
